Dovecot Studios
An important first step in the achievement of IC:Innovative Craft’s aims is its evolving relationship with Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh’s world-renowned tapestry studio. In an imaginative £5m development funded by the Alastair Salvesen Trust, Dovecot has converted a spectacular Victorian swimming baths into a wonderful mixed use building comprising studios, offices, exhibition galleries and apartments. IC has an office there and is working with Dovecot Studios to programme lively, cross art-form events in the converted building.

Ruthin Craft Centre
IC works closely with the Ruthin Craft Centre in North Wales, which hosted one of our launch exhibitions, ‘Raising the Bar:Influential Voices in Metal’, in October 2008. Ruthin Craft Centre has recently been redeveloped by Sergison Bates architects with the help of lottery funding from the Arts Council of Wales, and re-opened in July 2008.
The new centre is located on the existing site in its own landscape. It’s a dynamic zinc and cast stone building with undulating roofs that echo the surrounding Clwydian hills. It houses three galleries, six artist studios, a retail gallery and education and residency workshops.
