Eat Me, Keep Me Cup Cake by Rebecca Wilson
IC:Innovative Craft and Dovecot Studios are proud to host a new show celebrating the best in design and making from Edinburgh. This show explores the quality of craft and variety of objects being produced in Edinburgh that have a connection to, or connotations of, the idea of ‘home’.
Working with the makers based at Edinburgh Ceramic Studio in Coburg House, Leith the exhibition pulls together five completely different contemporary ceramic makers - from the stillness of Andrea Walsh’s vessels to the surreal, universal themes of Craig Mitchell’s characters, the nod to the kitch in Rebecca Wilson’s decadent domestic porcelain and the Asian influences of Fran Priest’s boxes to the frozen forms of Jenny Pope’s Breathing bottles.
Alongside these ceramics are a series of brightly coloured, contemporary textile pieces made by Dovecot Studios with the design work of three young designers – the celebrated fashion designer Jamie Bruski Tetsill, Kristine Mandsberg and Dovecot Studios’ own Junior Weaver, Jonathan Cleaver. All three pieces offer a different take on the possibilities of the work of Dovecot Studios and textiles.
