Heatwork - Creative Ceramic Workshops

Craig Mitchell (left) examines equipment used on the course.

Heatwork has been developed by two of Scotland’s leading contemporary ceramists, Craig Mitchell and Frances Priest. Their idea is to use their considerable skill as makers and experienced teachers to run innovative team building workshops for Scottish companies seeking to improve the creative thinking skills of their workforce. Heatwork organises dynamic participatory ceramic days which allow all to develop creative potential.

Courses are tailored to specific needs. Participants are guided to engage with designing and making everything from individual ceramic pieces to large scale collaborative murals. Pieces are fired using the direct raku process. Learning through making offers many opportunities to develop creative skills with wider application in the work environment.

Heatwork, which can be part-day or multiple-day events, may be hosted in inspiring locations across Scotland, from creative spaces such as the Edinburgh Sculpture workshop or the intriguing Hill of Tarvit in Fife (owned by the National Trust for Scotland). Heatwork can also explore options for delivering the workshops at a location of your choice.
