Dovecot, 10 Infirmary Street, Edinburgh | Location on Google Maps »

Open Mon - Sat, 11am - 6pm | Free admission

New ways of thinking through metal: 12 international makers demonstrate their skill and imagination within the traditions of domestic silver and metalwork.

Scotland has a strong tradition of metalwork and silversmithing. Raising the Bar brings some of the most influential international voices in this field to Scotland for the first time. On show will be around 50 newly created works, from major pieces by distinguished Japanese professor Yasuki Hiramatsu to new designs from Australia’s Robert Foster (who has designed for Alessi and others). The exhibition will also include innovative Danish silverwork from Kim Buck and major works from Scotland’s renowned engraver, Malcolm Appleby.
