The morning session takes place at:
Main Lecture Theatre, Edinburgh College of Art, Lauriston Place, EH3 9DF. The theatre is in the original college building behind the Hunter Building.
The afternoon session takes place at:
Dovecot, 10 Infirmary Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1LT.
Three speakers explore diverse approaches to textiles in the contemporary world
This is an open access event likely to appeal to adult and professional audiences. No prior booking required but please arrive in good time for each session to ensure a place.

9.45 Welcome and Introduction by Amanda Game, Consulting Director of IC: Innovative Craft
10.00 Sue Prichard, Curator of Contemporary Textiles at the Victoria & Albert Museum, will be exploring her involvement in collecting, curating and writing about contemporary textiles in the context of an international museum.
11.00 Alan Shaw, Industry Co-ordinator for the Centre for Advanced Textiles at Glasgow School of Art, will present ‘Impact of a Technology Focused Research Centre”.
12.00 Deirdre Nelson, a Glasgow-based embroiderer and exhibitor in Jerwood Contemporary Makers, will illustrate her artistic journey through textiles and the ways in which her knowledge of textile processes explores wider social history.
13.00 BREAK FOR LUNCH
14.30 In Conversation – Sara Brennan, tapestry artist and Moyna Flannigan, painter, explore their mutual artistic journeys in tapestry and paint in Scotland.
15.30 A Journey Through Colour – Jo Barker, a leading Edinburgh tapestry artist, leads a participatory event exploring colour through thread with Douglas Grierson and Dovecot Studios. Special hands on activities will follow!
16.30 Matt Hulse and Deirdre Nelson finish the afternoon with a brief preview of the FilmCraft Weekend (30 January - 1 February).
17.00 Participants are invited to join Jo on a visit to her exhibition at The Scottish Gallery (www.scottish-gallery.co.uk).
